Final pictures

These pictures are the once that i have picked for my final pictures , the reason for these being picked is because they are the strongest out of them all , in particular the picture which stands out for me out of them all would be from the editorial section and the photo of the plastic hearts with the continence of which can damage, i really love the angle of this photo and how not everything is in focus i think the picture works really well.

Architecture

Architectural photography is photographs taken of buildings , in which photographers use different techniques and specialised equipment. One of the techniques commonly used is controlled perspective using the vertical lines and parrelle this is achieved by having the camera focal plane of perpendicular to the ground. This done by tilt/shift lenses.

In lesson we was set the task of going around the uni campus and taking pictures of the building , i experimented with using a different lens to take these pictures with ,lens that  the lens i chose to use was the fish eye lens which is a wide angle lens that produces a visual distortion.

After 3 shots and looking at the pictures after seeing that they was far to bright after sorting this issue out the next 3 pictures which looked really effective in the fish eye angle style.

These 3 pictures i chose to take round the side of the building , this middle picture is taken at the bottom of some stairs i wanted to get the winding effect they had however because the lighting was to bright it did not come out as i planned if i was to re take this picture the changes i would make would to change the brightness and contrast and also to be stood further back in order to get more of the stairs in the picture.

Again this is taken from the side of the building but the fish eye lens gives the effect of making the wall look longer because you can not see the end point of the wall ,however again the brightness in the picture is to much and takes over the picture.

After making these altercations and changing the aperture and brightness , the picture came out a lot better and can see the building clearly , also by moving closer the tighter angle is a lot better and the lens gives the effect of the pole bending on the far left.

After taking a picture from the bottom of the stairs i decided to try and take a picture from behind and a long distance angle in order to get both the side window and the back of the steps into the photo.

Out of all the pictures i  took with the fish eye lens  this is the one i like best , i wanted to get the whole of the building into the picture in order to do this with the fish eye was to take it from a low angle and the lens creates the abstract look to the picture as well.

Press and Publicity

Press and publicity -

Press and publicity is a big aspect in photography , it is basically showing people showing something for example could be used for a company or websites , another form of advertising a product or a event or just showing where someone famous was on a night out.

One key aspect of this is always needing the permission to take pictures of who ever is in them if under the age of 16

For these pictures i was using a Nikon D200 camera , these first couple of pictures was more experimental and getting used to how was framing the pictures to show both the people in them and what they are doing clearly in the photographs.
F16 ISO1600 exposure manual focal length 35.0 and then focal lengh for the second picture 34.0 , both of these pictures came out far to exposed and therefore one of the people was to bright.

On the 3rd attempt through moving angle and capturing the light rightly and then both people in the picture are clear to see , and can see a demonstration , this image could be used for a magazine or a leaflet on photography or even for a university showing a teacher student relationship

These next set of photos we got more experimental and decide to move over to the reception area with the idea of these pictures being on a poster or leaflet as publicity for the university showing again a student and a staff member, connoting and showing how helpful the staff are.

The first picture that i took was far to dark and could only barely see the outlines and shadows of the people in the picture was not going to work for a picture which the people in the picture was the main purpose of the picture , for the second picture i decided to use the flash when taking the picture and this made all the difference while using the same camera settings as the before picture but coming out with a much better effect with the extra light in the picture. However after uploading the picture onto the computer and seeing it bigger the key changes would of made would of been the positioning of the people in the picture and perhaps a closer angle so could see facial expressions a lot clearer.

Two different angles which experimented with was a close up almost over the shoulder for the first picture looking over the students shoulder and down at the staff member , while i like this picture for a press and publicity type i thought was better to at least see some of the other persons face and that a over the shoulder picture would not work for advertising as well.
