Editorial photography is all photography for magazines /newspapers which isn't advertisement (non commercial) for example could be photography to go with a article or even the front cover of the magazine .
while editorial gives a lot more freedom than commercial photography there is still certain aspects to it which is key techniques , such as there being certain sixes and should always usually be 200 pixes per square inch. Also usually the file type is always jpeg and not raw furthermore the quality of the picture should always be top notch as its being published in a magazine /newspaper.
A learning activity which we was set in lesson was to go around the uni building and look at the end of year final show photography work and take pictures, but take pictures as if they was going into a magazine ,also thinking about how the photographs may look in the magazine and how would be shot.
when taking the pictures i had a idea in my head of a magazine cover and how i would set out the pictures in order to think of how i would want the pictures to be taken.

When got to this exhibit seeing how the birds was placed out i thought this image would work better as the main image on the front of the magazine as the background picture that the title and etc was written over , this is mind i wanted a wide angle shot in order to include 4 of the birds and to position my self so that the picture shows both a front of a bird , behind and side but also including what the birds was fighting over.

This photo would be a side photo much smaller on the cover , with this in mind i wanted not only just the work but the artist information book included into the picture , next to this could be some kind of text explaining that can see this work more in detail inside.

This is my favourite of the images of the clever work , where in each individual plastic heart was elements which could cause the heart problems , as there was a lot of these in a row instead of taking a standard frontal picture getting them in a line going across i wanted to get them from the side some in focus and some not and i think this picture would work well as the centre image on the magazines cover.

Like the above picture i decided to take the picture from the side rather than front as just gives a different perspective to the pictures.

These to images was just basic frontal position angle with the main focus being on the middle objects in the picture as that is where the eye is most likely to look first.
This is a mock up magazine cover that i have experimented with and chose the picture i liked best and tryed out the idea i had when first took picture and i feel it works well with the angle of the picture.
